This Edwardian hallway had beautiful proportions and original character, but the dark grey scheme it had inherited left the space feeling cold and heavy, particularly as the hallway is north facing. My client was keen to introduce wallpaper but initially considered using it on just one feature wall. Instead, I encouraged her to embrace the pattern throughout the space and we chose a stunning House of Hackney wallpaper to wrap around the hallway and staircase for a much more immersive and cohesive feel.

In a space with lots of doorways and changing angles, using wallpaper throughout actually creates a calmer and more balanced look than a single statement wall. To complement the period features, we added staircase panelling inspired by the existing woodwork and layered the lighting with wall lights, lamps and a sculptural pendant to bring warmth into the space. The result is a welcoming entrance hall full of personality that now sets the tone beautifully for the rest of the home.
